Claerhout Communication House is a full service advertising and communications agency. When opening their new office building, which provides office space for 45 employees and a conference room for 150 guests, flexibility was a highly important requirement in the design. It has to be easy to subdivide the large open spaces into smaller rooms. And it has to be easy to change the layout in function of future assignments and activities of the employees.
The main goals that were to be achieved were:
- 30% less running costs
- 50% less CO2 emissions
- A healthy and comfortable working environment
- A lean construction principle.
“Daikin experts give answers to our questions and provide the appropriate solution: refrigeration for the kitchen, cooling for the server room, virtually free hot water for the caretaker’s apartment and units for spaces without raised floors or a false ceiling. A completely integrated system with Daikin as the only supplier and point of contact.”
- Pieter Claerhout, CEO and owner of Claerhout Communication House
Open landscape office
Our employees work in an open landscape office. To efficiently be able to keep the temperature at a constant and comfortable level we opted for a Daikin heat recovery system.
Whenever the offices at the southern side get too warm the excess warmth is recovered for providing additional heating.
Mix of different VRV units
It is possible to subdivide the large open spaces into smaller rooms. This is why we opted for a mix of different VRV units: VRV heat recovery systems that ensure the comfort of the staff in the small individual offices where only a single person is working while cooling is needed in another room for a team meeting. We installed VRV heat pump systems for large meeting spaces since all of these have the same orientation.
The installation method used in this building is exceptional. Because the building owner did not want any false ceilings the entire technical infrastructure was fitted under a raised floor. Concealed units were used in this regard. The advantage of these units is that during setup the fan speed is automatically adjusted to overcome the resistance in the ducts. In that way we ensure optimal comfort and installation time is reduced.

Crystal Tower
To help Crystal Tower maximise its energy efficiency, we planned to combine the power of air-cooled VRV, water-cooled VRV and chillers to deliver an all-in-one climate control solution.

Torre Serenissima
Equipped with an outdated R-22 refrigerant system, we gave the Torre Serenissima a full upgrade to deliver more energy efficiency and comfort.

The Bloomsbury Hotel
The VRVIII Heat Recovery System from Daikin was selected for its supremely low energy consumption and ability to off er massive savings in comparison with similar systems

VMD business centre
A VRV IV system is providing all the heating and cooling for VMD Tower B, a 25-storey office building in Zagreb, helping it to meet the highest levels of efficiency and lowering energy consumption.

Velocity office building
Sustainability is at the forefront of Velocity's design. Each element of the design has been carefully considered to ensure an EPC rating of "B" and an "Excellent" BREEAM rating has been achieved.

Leon's restaurant
M&E contractor, Synecore, installed its first ‘invisible’ HVAC system, the Daikin VRV IV i-Series at Leon Restaurant, central London, to overcome tight space restrictions and achieve maximum climate control efficiency.
